Pause and Reflect

The long view

In my working career I came to a realization that when we measure everything only by ‘results’, there is not always satisfaction. Perseverance for the long view is beyond the culture of achievement.

As two vengeful wars are blazing, hearts are cut open to compassion and hope. Vaclav Havel who served as the last president of Czechoslovakia wrote that ‘hope is not the conviction that something turns out right, but rather the certainty that something is worth doing no matter how it turns out.”

When the eyes of the world see horrors beyond words, the anecdote for me is to follow the wonder. Where can we see pure, naked, visceral embodied nature? Perhaps as simply as watching the sun or moon rise and set or the magnificence of the universe, a simple pivot to embody peace, passion and grace inflames me with joy and energy to discern what is worth doing today.
